Father and son, went to a temple, suddenly son shouted after seeing the pillars of Lions at the entrance of the temple "Run Dad, or those Lions will eat us " Dad consoled him saying "they are just statues and wont harm us" Son replied " if those lion statues wont harm us then how could statues of God give us blessings" The father wrote in his diary... "I am still speechless on my childs answer and have started searching for God in Humans instead of statues. -- A good story which I read today. Not sure whether this has been penned by an agnostic or atheist. But forms a good question for discussion. What do you all think about this?
I have been thinking recently about our state of temples.
I have been thinking recently about our state of temples. They have changed their forms from being cultural and binding factors to just business centres. mostly people who are visiting the temples are doing mechanical things. how can we revive the temples as discussion forums for arts, culture, social responsibilities from being just "transactional" in nature. there are satsangas being organized in the temples, but they just follow the bhakthi movement. how can we revive usage of sanskrit, learning of vedas, and then to create a more responsible generation than ours? ideas are welcome...
Whatever be the age 1700 or 1800s or 2017, happiness lies in where we look for it ;) we should be happy with what we have rather than carving for something else leaving what we have. The shastras says one beautiful thing when a shishya asks a guru "what should you ask god to give you" and the answer is " anasaya maranam vina dainyena jeevitam". Meaning a happy death and a debt less life ! As long we live we should never extend our hand for help/debt. As when we die, die with peace, not unlike being in ICU, watching ur neighbor beds emptied with tons of needles in the body.
ReplyDeleteIt is correct that happiness is the goal of life, but there is no happiness in this material world, although one can feel real happiness if he practise spirituality. and spirituality starts with I am not this body , I am soul and soul is a part and parcel of supreme lord. Without knowing this ,one cannot even touch the real happiness. As a soul is part and parcel of GOD therefore it duty it do the loving service of the lord, as prahlad maharaj, arjuna, dhruv maharaj did. There is no death of soul as stated in chapter 2 of Bhagavad Gita, and also in different shastras. we are all in debt because everything belongs to supreme personality of godhead shri krishna and we are using it for our greed therefore we all are hugely indebted. We should help ourselves first by librating ourselves from the birth, death, old age, and 3 fold miseries. For getting peace, krishna gives us the solution in Gita, chapter 5-29 bhoktaram yajna-tapasam sarva-loka-mahesvaram suhrdam sarva-bhutanam jnatva mam santim rcchati. And for your information this material world is called jail, or we can also say that we all are in ICU those are doing devotional service of lord are in the process of getting out of this jail. Therefore real help one can provide to others is giving him this eternal knowledge and helping him to work on it and not by certainly talking big big things. Just like there is a saying that what benefit one will get by saving a drown man clothes and not him.Today most of all people are trying to do for this body which one day will get burned or burried and this body is called as clothes in shastras. Therefore a intelligent person is that who try to stop the recurrence of the cycle of birth and death. For more info., you can see my blogs.

ReplyDeleteWhy moksha ?? If u don't get one, u will have a rebirth and get a chance to know the god again and feel his blessing, read his stories , wow. I don't think one life time is not ok for me to enjoy god. Let me have 1000s and in that let me take birth as dog or ant and one as human and know him :)
