God can be visualized in three different ways: 1. Saakara (with form as its easy to show love/affection). Gods are identified by gender. 2. Nirakara (formless, but saguna. A god which punishes bad people and rewards good people). Gods also have a gender in this case. 3. Then the gods talked in Upanishads. (They are Nirakara and Nirguna). God is referred to as IT here. There is no gender associated. They also do not reward/punish people. It is above all. https://youtu.be/srAnLGWzZw8?t=2748 https://youtu.be/srAnLGWzZw8?t=2748

Hindus mostly cremate the dead bodies. But the bodies of a Yogi or Sanyaasi is either buried or drowned in river. My question is, if this is the practice in case of Sanyaasis or Yogis, then why in the Ishavasya Upanishad, the last 2 verses call upon Agni to burn the body?

Mahabharatam and Bhagavadgita

Image
Mahabharatam and Bhagavadgita Sri. Madhusudhana Saraswati Swamiji, while writing the commentaries for Bhagavadgita wrote the Dhyana slokas (invocation hymns) - "paartaaya pratibodhitaam..." etc. Nowadays it a custom to sing these dhana slokas before the paaraayanam of Bhagavadgita - first let us see how Gita got its name ? - Bhagavataa Sri Krishnena Gitam iti Bhagavadgitam (Sung by Bhagavan Sri Krishna - thus Gitam) - then why the Feminine gender is choosen for this "Kridanta" (past participle) Sanskrit word ?... The answer is interesting !. If we say just the word "Bhagavadgita" - this shows that there is another word may be needed to complete the sentense - the missing word is "Upanishad". "Upanishad" is a feminine gender word. (In Sanskrit only words have gender and not the actual substance /things /people - because of the great principle that everything in the creation embodies the will of the Creator, and the creator is beyond Gend...

What should we know but truth?

Originally shared by Sunil Yadav                             What should we know but truth?     How can a man speak the truth, without knowing it. Man speaks what he knows. Therefore know . Thinking, man knows; unthinking, he cannot know. Therefore think . With faith, man thinks; faithless, he cannot think. Therefore have faith . From devotion, man gets faith; without devotion, he has none. Have devotion . When man acts, he gets devotion; without action, he has none. So Act . Man acts when he gets happiness; without happiness, he does nothing. Find happiness . Man gets happiness from the unlimited; from the limited, none. Find the unlimited . Where man finds a thing, sees nothing else, hears nothing else, knows nothing else, that is the unlimited ; where he finds a thing, sees something else, hears something else, knows something else, that is the limited. The unlimited is immortal; the limited is mortal. The unlimited depends on nothing. - From Chandogya Upanishad

Originally shared by Sunil Yadav As an eagle weary after soaring in the sky, folds its wings and flies down to rest in its nest; so does the shining Self enters the state of dreamless sleep where one is freed from all desires . As a person when in the arms of a beloved, is not aware of what is within and what is without. So is with a person who is in union with the Self --- unknown of what is within and what is without. There is no desire to be fulfilled and one goes beyond sorrows. In that state of oneness, there is neither thief nor monk, neither worlds nor gods not even scriptures, no low no high. The self is beyond good and evil , beyond all the suffering of human heart. In that state of oneness, one speaks without speaking, for nothing is separate from him.. one sees without seeing, for nothing is separate from him.. one hears without hearing, for nothing is separate from him.. one knows without knowing, for nothing is separate from him.. Where there is oneness, one without a sec...
