Shall we put some light on after-death rituals, where it is said in our Vedas?

Shall we put some light on after-death rituals, where it is said in our Vedas? Anyone with more information, please continue the topic. I think we need more clarity in understanding our own treasures. Our traditional rituals has been at least two-fold. One with elaborate symbolisms which is tailored for a specific purpose. Though we may have forgotten our purpose of such rituals, the symbolism has continued and stayed. Any reasons for this?

I am elated to join this group of members who are in search of TRUTH in the real sense of the word, as even amongst the learners, there are people to air and contradict even obvious findings - perhaps due to the so-called westernised reviews and outlooks. But, what Max Muller had done to our Ancient Vedic liiterature, no one else can match HIM till to-day - i.e. bringing our wonderful sanskrit treasure to the world arena. Hope to be enriched with this association in the days to come.
