Rahu or Kethu in fifth house is suppose to limit the children . Due to this Sarpa dosha is checked in Kerala.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen this practice in Karnataka. In fact when I was talking to my colleague he was saying they are not supposed to worship snakes....
ReplyDeleteThis practice is prevalent in Karnataka at Kukke Subramanya temple, in Andhra at Kalahasti temple, in Tamil Nadu at Thiru Nageshwaram temple and in Kerala Mannarsaala temple.
ReplyDeleteMost popular in Kerala and next is TN.
ReplyDeleteBut why only in some places in KA?Krishnamurthi CG
ReplyDeleteEven in North in some places, there is "Kal-sarp" dosha praayaschit. Some believe and some don't. Snake is considered to be an elevated Jeeva as it is able do aayaama of vaayu. Therefore killing a snake is considered a big paapam. If some of our ancestors have killed snakes then we need do praayashchitam is the premise.
ReplyDeleteThis is the reason for the start of worshiping of Rahu and Ketu in India. The subtle ecological teachings have been wrongly understood and further taken into ritualistic activities. Anyway as a result some people may be conscious of not killing snakes. As an ecologist I can say that snakes are very important for the protection of forests and even agriculture.
ReplyDeleteI was driving myself a point, why snakes and not any other animal for "child-birth"? any linkage to sperm, which are also snake-like?Krishnamurthi CG
ReplyDeleteVamsa vrddhi is connected with Vaayu, and snake with Vaayu, Cow with Earth/ Life and Water with Order /cycle and Fire with assimilation /Chetana. These are Yoga/ Ayurveda deep-scientific things.
ReplyDeleteKrishnamurthi CG Any materials which i can learn from on this?
