Why holidays ??

Why holidays ??

Why do we need holidays when we do what we like ??
When i was been to my wife's grandpa hometown and realised that his daily routine is to go the paddy fields .. daily meaning daily.. nothing like Saturdays or sundays.. he has been doing for past 30+years.. is it the western influence or the race against time that we are doing something which we don't like??

When Krishna says do ur duty and forget abt d results.. that's only possible when we do what we like most isn't it so ??
All members in dis grp read books scriptures not for sake of money but it interests them r8. Did u ever get a feeling of taking break ? No i guess then why job needs holidays ??

Isn't the job itself we are doing able to give moksha ?? It can r8....

Your opinions ?? :)

  1. we had much more holidays and they were meaningful and also seasonal. We work to live and not live to work. We had 15 days of leave during Chaitra paksha (Uthraayanam begining), Navaratri paksha, Deepavali paksha, etc. - There are about 5 - 6 such 15 days seasonal holiday blocks in an year, which everybody used enjoy in their respective regions in the past. Nowadays we are really mad working like this - like machines. The more we work the more damage to the Nature and Ecology and the more we feel like machines and at the sametime helpless - may be it's time we all become more lazy - just for the sake of protecting mother earth, if no other intelligent options work.

  2. Well Krishnamurthi ji.. I tend to accept your idea and explanation and thx for the same.
Actually what i intend to say is different. I wanted to emphasize that we don't need to have a break for what we do if we like it. The job what we do if we love it, we wouldn't be needing a vacation. We need to fall in love with it and that love can give us moksha. And that love doesn't need a break. I think i made myself clear.
