A Must read on Hinduism from a German. http://mariawirthblog.wordpress.com/2013/05/04/when-germany-is-christian-is-india-hindu/ A quote from the article "In my early days in India, I thought that every Indian knew and valued his tradition. Slowly I realized that I was wrong. The British colonial masters had been successful in not only weaning away many of the elite from their ancient tradition but even making them despise it. It helped that the ‘educated’ class could no longer read the original Sanskrit texts and believed what the British told them. This lack of knowledge and the brainwashing by the British education may be the reason why many ‘modern’ Indians are against anything ‘Hindu’." - quoted from the Article

The greatest challenge facing Hinduism is the exportation of Hinduism then importing westernized Hinduism back into India, in my opinion.

Where in the Vedas is “Vedic mathematics” to be found? Nowhere.

Where in the Vedas is “Vedic mathematics” to be found? Nowhere. Vedic mathematics has no relation whatsoever to the Vedas. It actually originates from a book misleadingly titled Vedic Mathematics by Bharati Krishna Tirtha. The book admits on its first page that its title is misleading and that the (elementary arithmetic) algorithms expounded in the book have nothing to do with the Vedas. Please go through the article and express your views on this very current issue.  Krishnamurthi CG      Anantha Narayanan    http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/nothing-vedic-in-vedic-maths/article6373689.ece

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/22-vedic-brahmins-from-Karnataka-conduct-homa-for-Sultan-of-Oman/articleshow/45124292.cms The news is self explanatory. This proves that - it doesn't matter who one is or where one is - he /she can get benefits from Vedic ceremony. Who ever you're if you plant a tree, water it and take care of it, it will grow big and bear fruit one day. The same rule applies to Vedic ceremonies, just like a medical procedure. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/22-vedic-brahmins-from-Karnataka-conduct-homa-for-Sultan-of-Oman/articleshow/45124292.cms

http://www.himalayanacademy.com/view/what-is-hinduism I rarely find books in English covering both the breath as well as depth of "Sanatana Dharma" without distorting the scientific /philosophical underpinnings... The book is worth a read - this covers the practices of South India in a detailed manner. The Section on Vedas - a must read to learn more about various Shakhas (from Samhita to Brahmana to Aranyaka to Upanishad) - the ebook is free but large in size (I think 175 MB) - very colourful book containing many photos and depictions, compels you to read. #hinduism   #vedas   #yoga   http://www.himalayanacademy.com/view/what-is-hinduism

I was reading "Who Am I" a book which has questions asked to Sri Ramana Maharishi by Sri Sivaprakasam Pillai. I could not get past this question as it was attracting me like nothing. I wrote a small blog about the thoughts which came up to me while reading this question. "What is the path of inquiry for understanding the nature of mind?"  http://ananthans.blogspot.in/2014/11/advaitam-and-dwaitam-what-are-they.html
