  3. hari om. As per the dictionary(sanskrit- english by sri vaman shiram apte of ferguson college poone  edition 1965 ) 'abhisravan manthra' is a set of vedic manthras chanted by priests while brahmanas are sitting to perform shtaadha and at the time bhojana in shraadha. So while taking food vedic chants create an auspicious atmosphere.'ABHI' means towards or in the direction of  & shravan means to listen.
There is one more 'MADHUMATHI SRAVANAM also.
This is what I know. Am I clear?
    good day. hari om

  6. hari om ..while brahmins take shraadha meals the karta or the main purohit will start chanting anna sukta, medhasukta, raakshojna sukta etc. At the end of the meal again they chant madhumathi shravanam. The karta will invite the brahmanas to meals and when they sit he will request them to listen(shravanam) to suktas. they say  "shraavaya" .. means ok we will listen start chanting.. these suktaas are available elsewhere for your perusal.
