Veda and Gita:- Generally in Samskrita Shastra circles (before Muslim invasion may be after invasion also) - people (Shastragnaah) didn't take Purasnaas seriously (means the Purana is not taken as evidence by majority of Scientists). But Itihaasa - which literally means history - Ramaayanam and Mahabhaaratam falls in the catogory of Itihaasa. - iti (like this) iha (here) aasa (happened /was). The two writers of Itihaasa - Maharishi Vaalmiki and Maharishi Vyasa - both lived in that period along with the people whose story they had written, lot of historical /astronomical evidence are now coming to limelight now like the undersea excavation by Ocean technology scientists found Dhwaraka (not just a city a province itself). Thus Krishna existed in physical form.
Coming to Gita and Krishna /Brahma (root - Brahman and the not the word brahmaa /brahmam) Vyasa being the most respected Maharishi (means a great scientist - both objective and subjective science) witnessed all events first hand - some directly some with his Yogadrishti (clairvoyance). Now is clairvoyance possible? - yes - where is the evidence - follow the link - http://www.businessinsider.com/researchers-unlock-formula-mathematician-srinivasa-ramanujan-2012-12
Ramanujan's formula is about - expansion of mock modular forms helps physicists compute the entropy, or level of disorder, of black holes.
This Ramanujan says that is not his but revealed to him by Devi Namagiri (Lakshmi) - when a scientist in 20th century can have clairvoyance why can't a scientist 5000+ years back have clairvoyance - and should that be only Mathematics - it can be anything.
Such a Maharishi says that Krishna said like this (he didn't say Gita is his and didn't claim copyright) about Gita. Also in many places in Mahabharata many confirm including Maharishi Vyasa that Krishna is indeed an Avataara (descend of the God - means in form - getting a form is itself a descend from the position - what position - formless - we don't /can't know the formless - we can know only the form - in form itself we don't know many things like - where is life in a cell ? /how a seed becomes a tree? - what is actually "growing"? and how ?- why a stone don't grow but a seed grows?)
We know only the Avataaras which are for establishing Dharma (Rytam /Order), but there are many Avataaras for showing the path to Moksha which we don't know. Here in Krishna-avataara - both are done by the same thing (Krishna is not a person like us) - thus it is Poorna-avataara (complete ) - because it shows the 2 complex things of 4 purushaarthaas - the 4 purposes of we getting human form and of every human being. Dharma-Artha-Kama-Moksha - as per Veda.
Thus Krishna is Brahman (the formless in form) and anything that one can imagine also beyond imagination. This is evident from the words of Krishna - if one takes Veda seriously then Bhagavadgita should also be - as it is Veda's essence as per the word of Sri Shankaracharya.
The creator of Veda is Brahman (formless) and the creator of Bhagavadgita is again Brahma (in form as Krishna). Thus if one recites Gita he gets the same benefit of reciting Veda. If one studies Gita with meaning he gets the same benefit of studying Veda. If one lives as per Gita he gets the same benefit of living as per Veda.

Now don't get me wrong - Should we recite Veda or Gita, should we study Veda or Gita, etc. this not about Veda vs. Gita - nor it is appropriate anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteVeda along with Vedangani (6 limbs) is in expanded form needs to be studied /recited and followed carefully by those who are supposed to - "Vedonityamadheeyataam" and Gita is an essence. In my view if one has a doubt from Gita - one should goto Vedas (including Upanishad) - the otherway is what is popular and adviced by elders - but that's for those who studied Vedas.
Due to many reasons, if one can't study Veda then that person can study Gita.
true
ReplyDeleteblessed to read such an explanation, Krishnamurthi CG. Also nice to read the article about the genius we Indians tend to forget...
ReplyDeleteWell, all credit goes to my Great teachers - Teachers like an ocean (of wisdom), although I'm having a small cup. We all are Rishi putras - sons and daughters of Rishis - this is what Swami Vivekananda reminded us from Chicago. Since it was from Chicago some of our intellectuals agreed! - many are still in delusion. Indians are smart doesn't mean others are idiots - this kind of notion if I've made unknowingly / unintentionally then I stand to correct it.
ReplyDeletegod bless u...I have been really unlucky to not have such great teachers. its only my parental lineage that makes me proud, but there too I feel I have not learned from anyone :(
ReplyDelete"Knowing what to know" or "Learning to Learn" itself is the biggest learning - I think there you score. Stuffing details in the memory is not learning.
ReplyDeletethanks for the great inspiration you provide Krishnamurthi CG
ReplyDeleteEven Puranas are itihasa only. But they cover a very long period right from the start of creation.
ReplyDeletePuranas are also history I accept that but some of our own brethren don't
ReplyDeleteaccept, which is ok in my view. Yet Puranas can't and shouldn't be ignored.
Thanks for raising this point I wanted mention this.
