Thanks to the eye opener by Krishnamurthi CG I was researching about Indian talents in Mathematics, beyond Ramajuna. I was startled to discover the name of Madhava (which was unknown to me till now thanks to our westernised teachings) who approximated on value of pi.

  1. Maadhava of Sangamagrama, Achyuta Pisharody, Neelakanta Somayaji, Narayana Bhattathiti (Naraayaneeyam fame) all these people are part of Kerala parampara mathematicians, scientists and Vaiyaakaranas (Grammerians) - they followed the footsteps of the Archryas of Aryabhattam, Brahmagupta, Bhaskara, Damodhara, etc. One of my teacher's son is a Sanskrit scholar, professor and mathematician in IIT-Mumbai by name Prof. K Ramasubramanian - he's been into research on this - right from collection of manuscript material, tranlate it into Devanagari lipi and Understand that - which is very difficult because many code languges are used - KaTaPaYa is one of that - then relate with mordern advanced Maths - he has published 2 books already - He is a true Sanskrit Scientist.

Now one would understand the Sanskrit vyakarana and its connection to Maths and Pure Science!. I will write a detailed note on this after some time.

We simply don't know our past - thats all I can say. Even those who claim that they know, know only a little including me. I've been doing a secondary research on Sanskrit Sastras and science - well it is an endless ocean.
