What is the ulterior motive behind this community, in my opinion:
One of the important book that I read was "Deivathin kural" (In Tamil) by Kanchi Shankaracharya Sri. Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Swami ji- this book (set of 8 volumes) is actually talks given by Swami ji since 1950 to 1990 (he was referred to as Paramacharya or Maha Periyava). I got this book 4-5 years back, yet till date I couldn't even complete the first volume. Because I couldn't proceed beyond a particular point due to the feeling of guilt. The guilt is more deep and about the quantum of adharma which I am directly committing every day and every minute personally and also being part of the collective adharma which is going on willingly.
Paramacharya hits us with a hammer in the first book itself - he mainly criticizes Brahmins who left their dharma (here the meaning of dharma is most important duty) and went into making money - he says this is the reason for the problems of the society. The Brahmin's duty as per dharmashastra is 6 (comes in pairs) - 1-2) Learning-Teaching, 3-4) Doing Yajna (sacrifices) - Making others do Yajna (sacrifices) and 5-6) giving and receiving alms. He firmly says that if all Brahmins turn to their own dharma and not accumulate wealth - the society will totally change in short time. (This I am quoting here not to criticise or hurt anyone).
Personally I don't know about this, but when a great Yativara like Paramacharya says, then this it must be true. Our Vedas and shastras say that "Pramana" for Veda-shastra is our Rishis, Jeevan muktas, Yativaras, Saadhus, etc. The way they live their live and showed as a testimony for the "truth" as propounded in Vedas, their life is the essence that is detailed in Vedas. Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi or Anadamayi Ma, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa are living Pramana for Vedas /Shastras. Though none studied Veda but they showed the path to "Purushaartha" as given in our Shastras, without even moving an inch from Dharma.
So the motive of this forum is to enable us to understand ourselves about our own treasures (Veda, Shastra, Yoga, Sanskrit, Sanskriti, etc.) and contemplate and also where ever possible bring in small changes in our lives or atleast our own understanding
As long as we keep this forum uncluttered and looking at our own Sanatana Dharma (religion) with genuine concern and to inquire with both objective and subjective aspects and where ever possible question the the superstitions - through our own experiences and keeping Vedas and shastras and the teachings of Jnanis as the pramana before prescribing, then this forum is achieving its purpose.
Even if it is just one person, could get some inspiration on one aspect if we could bring in some change, some shraddha or some degree of curiosity to inquire - this forum is doing its job.
Once Swami Chinmayananda was asking a shishya about the "Jnana Yajna" (Bhagavadgita class) starting day - the shishya complained saying that "there were only 4 people". Then Swamiji replied "you're really blessed, when Bhagavan came directly and taught Geeta, there was just one person - Arjuna".
We all are equally concerned that our Sanatana dharma is being misquoted and misused by some people to cheat gullible /ignorant people which not only cultivates superstitious and irrational customs, but also deteriorate Dharma. Thus our job is to keep this forum intellectually clean and that which can stand the scrutiny of rational inquiry.
Pranamams to one and all.
