  1. Good to see all this research happening but wish they would be more objective rather than extrapolate conclusions. Doesn't the outcome of this specific research only prove that Valmiki knew what he was writing about in terms of the geography and environment, not necessarily how factual the story was? That there is a detailed description of King's Cross station in the Harry Potter books doesn't make the story not a myth?

  2. Their subject matter was limited to plants. Botanically, geographically there are connections present till present times. This means that author knew the places very well. That's one fact. Remaining things are not verifiable at this stage, for first the dating of the story has to be done; proved beyond doubt.

  3. Nice to see that! However whether true or myth.. people should take the essence of the things mentioned in ramayan or mahabharat ! We teach rabbit and tortoise to children not that happened in reality But to teach them the fact of slow and steady wins the race. So Let's forget about proving it truth or myth. Many stories are at times more of mental plane. Say few stories of shiva or parvati Tell us about prakriti purusha concepts. Or when parasurama meets rama.. he looses energy... that can be understood in a.different way that.. in astrology parasuram denotes venus and rama denotes sun. So when They come together we call sukra moodam during which no good rituals muhurtams are set. So things are bit metaphysical too. Everything need not be think from our mundane grounds. I do agree that ramayan and mahabharats are ethihas... meaning eti.. this.. hasam .. happened this way only. This happened this way only.
