'ADAM' - THE SANSKRIT CONNECTION & A BIT ABOUT THE INDIAN ORIGINS OF THE JEWS
Beginning 960 A.D., China was ruled by the emperors of the Song Dynasty from their capital at Kaifeng, a bustling metropolis located on the legendary Silk Road that linked their domain to its trading partners in the West. And, it was sometime during this pe...

  2. That's ok, where I wanted people to see is that - when we exaggerate facts, they become myth. This is an example.

  3. I have to object to the claim that the status of Krishna is purely subjective. Krishna's position as the Supreme Personality of Godhead is absolute, and He has exhibited a variety of pastimes in several roles.

  4. Really, the right wingers are going way out of context in "hailing" our sanskriti but they themselves have no idea that what they do is only mockery of what they want to glorify.
Krishnamurthi CG some points raised by you like :
    - We say Sanskrit is the greatest language - but don't study.
    - Our Vedas and shastras say that we have to respect women but we don't practice it.
.. are scathing but so true.

  5. Paul Howard Sriman, don't take offense here. People who are non believers, even they can't object to the historical Sri. Krishna. But they accepting Sri Krishna as Devine or not is subjective to their Samskaara and they accepting other forms of pramana. My Samskaara apart when I state the facts I can only state the objective evidences that can be proved.

  6. Krishnamurthi CG No offense. My point is simply that reality isn't subordinate to our beliefs. The fact exists independently, and it's up to us to perceive it correctly or be mistaken.

  7. Sunil Yadav We respect women alot and the thing that we dont follow our tradition led to not respecting womens. Its not our tradition but 2days state of India is responsible for not respecting girls. and not everyone disrespects they are the handful of them. and when you mentioned right wingers did you point out about RSS?

  8. Let us keep politics out of our discussions. When I forwarded this conversation - it was only to point out what are the problems we face when we exaggerate facts.

Rape has got nothing to do with respecting women, etc. - it is simply a Crime and warrants jailing the person for atleast 3 life sentences of 14+14+14 years without any pardon - so that the person can never bear a child, after when he gets released.
    --------------------------
Also respecting women means not just stopping rape etc.

Our fundamental idea that in the society women should follow the orders of men in letter and spirit with respect to everything is wrong. This was not the case in the past.

I shall now give a historical evidence to prove this.

During the famous 7-day debate between Sri. Mandana Mishra (a great mimamsaka and shishya of Sri Kumarila Bhatta) and Sri Adi Shankaracharya,  wife of Sri. Mandana Mishra - Smt. Ubhaya Bharati stood as the judge.

Now if she didn't know Vedas, Vedanta and Shastras she could not have been the judge - so she studied Veda, Vedanta, Shastra etc.

How much respect Sri. Mandana Mishra had for his wife - and trust in her judgement - which he totally accepted. Please note that the debate was publicly held and everyone knew in the city of Mithila at that time.

How much respect Sri. Adi Shankara had for that woman, her knowledge and also her impartial credentials -  else he wouldn't have agreed for her being the judge.

How much respect she commanded then from the scholars community - else any scholar could have objected to her being the judge.

Finally when she passed the judgement that it was Adi Shankara who won the debate - she very well knew that her husband could be taking Sannyaasa and leaving house !.

What a lady she was - pranamams to her.

Our shastras say  स्त्री मूलं हि धर्मः (lady is the root of dharma).

    गृहं गृहं नोच्यते गृहिणी गृहम् उच्यते - A house is not called as a home - only the Lady in the house is called a home.

गृहम् अस्याः अस्ति इति गृहिणी (feminine gender word) - means - the house she owns therefor she is the Homemaker. In the same manner no where in shastra there is no usage of the word  गृही (masculine gender word) - means the owner of the house - a male.

In Kerala till 60 years back in some communities the Ladies were the rightful owner of the property (family wealth, land, house, etc.) and she inherits the wealth from her mother etc. and passes on to her Daughters and/or Daughter-in-laws.
