  1. It's really unfortunate that our government employees have no accountability built with the job. But responsible citizens are taking things to their hands to solve problem which should have been government employees.

  2. I don't blame the Govt., now or earlier. Including the so called Sangh parivar we all collectively don't care enough for any of our real sampat (wealth) - the "विद्या". Simply shouting about Sanskrit all the time and not learning Sanskrit, the same way making only noise about Bharat's science etc. and not doing anything to learn, preserve, etc. have become our way of preserving our shastra. We are thinking that just by posting some pics of Shiva, Rama, Hanuman (and some 20 likes and so on) and simply making noise, we are doing service to our Sanatana Dharma - shame on us. How many of us really know about Yantra-Mantra (Jantar Mantar) and Astrolabes - we might have gone there for a dharna at best. As a society I don't think we deserve what our ancestors left us with - be it Sanskrit or any of our Shastras - that is why they all have gone away from us - this is the truth, it is not that we didn't study them, they all left us. Take for example in Vastu shastra except a few like Dr. Ganapathy Sthapathy none of us know anything or care about any of our ancient sciences. In fact the best Vastu education is in Kerala - 1000s of houses, 100 Churches and 3 Mosques are built in the past 20 years based on these principles - do we know, do we care. There are some individuals who take a path different from that of the mainstream and try to study them.

  4. I agree. But with our education system blindly ignoring our culture branding it with Hinduism stamp is not the way out.

  5. First, our understanding of Hinduism itself is very myopic. What the majority know at best is some puranic stories - that too we have heard a "n"th hand version - through TV or Cinema or Hearsay. This kind of 3rd rate knowledge is actually very dangerous for Hinduism - even if we call it with an "ism" tag. We were never theistic in the first place- now all efforts are there to make it like one and create authority at all levels - I would welcome leadership if only the person who is leading is like Bhoja Maharaja - but we have unworthy people trying to lead. This confuses people and they fall prey to superstitions, and wrong practices. Our shastra is entirely different from that of what ever that we are calling as Hinduism now. For example, buying Gold on "Akshaya tritiyaa" many such things have cropped up in the recent past. When we see our so called "Hinduism" through the glass of other religions we will fail. At the same time we need to protect it - how ? - everything starts at home. Adults should spend more time to learn and also should have courage to give up any wrong practice that we follow. We should also need to look at the message than the messenger. We do pooja to Bhagavadgita and never read it - the message is for our scrutiny, contemplation and understanding. There are objective and subjective aspects in any Samskara /Achaara - so we need to be alert, watchful - should we drop them - No, should we practice them blindly - No.

With respect to anything, first the Saakshi bhaava need to be cultivated and then Vichaara and then a clear understanding should emerge. Certain things we may never learn - In Mahabharata in Shanti parva, Sage Vyasa himself has said that he himself can't understand and define "Dharma" - so life is a great journey of learning.

I think I am becoming too preachy - this itself is against "Sanatana Dharma", and so I stop.

  6. You are not becoming preachy. We are discussing the messages and how to make it reveal to normal persons. As you said we should never concern ourselves with the messenger.
