  1. though i could not understand much in christianity, could not resist to copy the following two separate paragraphs:

For contemplative Christians, Jesus is the archetype of non-dual consciousness. As a Jew, Jesus was deeply steeped in Hebrew Scriptures, which begin with the creation story. The first book, Genesis, portrays the Creator God as existing before time and space, and then creating the cosmos out of nothing. Only God can create something from nothing (creatio ex nihilo), and since the Divine precedes creation, many mystics call God the Uncreated.

Even though there is a distinction between the Uncreated and creation, and between God and creatures, we are created in such intimate relationship with God that we are said to be images of God. In the first chapter of Genesis (Gen 1:26-27), Elohim (a plural name for the Divine) says, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness… So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

DO we see any similarity between what is said in our scriptures?

  2. Many things are human interpretations. The current Christianity in many places is a preacher driven watered-down evangelical one. The original things are not brought to limelight as they don't suit the purpose of controlling the masses - Roman Emporer Constantine is responsible for some good and also concealing some. In fact Christmas itself is celebrated on different days. In Slav christianity (who are neither Catholic nor Protestant and the oldest descendents of Jesus followers as claimed) Christmas in in Jan 12 or so. So many versions many interpretations. We simple can't say which is and what is authentic - and thus at the outset it is easy to say as both talk of Liberation /Enlightenment - but vast differences are there.

  3. hm, very true. even if you knew the correct order in which these interpretations came it would be difficult to decipher what they meant on that date... despite this i don't understand why there is no demand for serious historians now-a-days....
