Father and son, went to a temple, suddenly son shouted after seeing the pillars of Lions at the entrance of the temple "Run Dad, or those Lions will eat us " Dad consoled him saying "they are just statues and wont harm us" Son replied " if those lion statues wont harm us then how could statues of God give us blessings" The father wrote in his diary... "I am still speechless on my childs answer and have started searching for God in Humans instead of statues. -- A good story which I read today. Not sure whether this has been penned by an agnostic or atheist. But forms a good question for discussion. What do you all think about this?
Gods names all are true representation (sound and meaning) of the meanings. Such as Shiva - meaning Auspicious /Pavitra or some other rare occations Anomaly, Vishnu means sarva vyaapi /being- present everywhere, Shankara - sham (good) Kara (karoti-doer), Ganesha - means leader of a group (group of devas). Deva means that which is in the akaasa /celestel beings (means not in earth but floats above, near or far in sky) - Air, Rain, Sun, etc. Vibhu means vishesha being - no birth /no death. Brahman means - that which is huge and also in som case sound, shakti - the power /latent energy in everything, Krishna means the one who attracts and also the one who is black in skin colour (black attracts). Rama means the one who creates happiness in people's mind /simply happiness, Vaani - both speach /devi, Sri /lakshmi - Real wealth, Paarvati - parvata-putri, Muraari - Mura's enemy, Maadhava - Maa's (earth's) husband, the list goes on... We equate all that is good is as God. Not just us,in Bhagavadgita itself this kind of classification is seen in both 10th chapter and also in 7th chapter
